  3. Version 1.01 introduced two additional cursor control functions:

  5. Press Ctrl-Home to move the cursor to the upper left corner of the screen.
  6. Press Ctrl-End to move the cursor to the end of the current note.

  8.                        Version 1.1
  9.                        ===========
  10. Version 1.1 introduced the Renumber Note function.   This function 
  11. allows you to change the order of your notes. 
  12.  
  13. Press Ctrl-F3 to renumber the current note.  The cursor will move next
  14. to "Note #".  Type the new number of the current note, then press 
  15. <Enter>.  The current note will be renumbered, and other notes will be 
  16. renumbered according to the sequence you selected.  Since you are 
  17. rearranging existing notes, the number you enter must be the number
  18. of an existing note. [Version 2.0 replaced this function with "Move
  19. Note".]

  21.                        Version 1.2
  22.                        ===========
  23. Version 1.2 expanded the hotkey selections to include F11 and F12
  24. combinations, and fixed the problem with the hotkey program in
  25. version 1.1.  Registered copies display "Registered" on the lower
  26. right corner of the screen.

  28.                        Version 1.3
  29.                        ===========
  30. Version 1.3 added support for monochrome laptops that have a color
  31. card.  Type NOTEWARE /M to tell NoteWare that your laptop has a
  32. monochrome screen.  The Ctrl-left and Ctrl-right arrows now move 
  33. the cursor one word at a time.  Ctrl-PgUp moves to the first 
  34. note; Ctrl-PgDn moves to the last.  Major static "snow" on CGA's
  35. is suppressed.

  38.                        Version 1.4 
  39.                        =========== 
  40. PRINTNW, a separate utility program to print notes, was added 
  41. in version 1.4.  It allows you to choose one, many, or 
  42. all notes to print, on the printer number of your choice. 
  43. You can choose the number of lines per page, whether to 
  44. include the time & date of the printing, and whether each note 
  45. should be printed on a separate page. 
  46.  
  47.                        Version 1.5
  48.                        ===========
  49. The function key F6 (Note #) was changed to Index.   The Index
  50. displays the first line of text of each of your notes.  If you have 
  51. more notes than can fit on your screen, use the PgDn and PgUp keys 
  52. to scroll through the Index.  You select a note by moving the highlight 
  53. bar to the desired note, and pressing <Enter>.  This is a very simple
  54. method and is recommended.

  56.                        Version 1.51
  57.                        ============
  58. Version 1.51 improved the searching functions.  The search now begins 
  59. at the current cursor location in the current note.  The search text
  60. is preserved each time you perform a search.  To search for the next
  61. occurrence of the same string, press F7 and then <Enter>.

  63.                        Version 1.6
  64.                        ===========
  65. Version 1.6 introduced the Block Bright and Block Dim features.  Press
  66. F9 to anchor one corner of the block of text.  The lower menu displays the 
  67. menu for the alt-key combinations.  Move the cursor to the other corner 
  68. of the block of text and select one of the block operations.  The 
  69. brightness of the blocked text can be changed to either dim or bright.

  71.                        Version 1.7
  72.                        ===========
  73. Version 1.7 introduced cut and paste.  A block of text can be cut and 
  74. then optionally pasted to the same note or to a different note.  
  75. Text is also available for pasting when the F3 key has been used to 
  76. delete a line of text.
  77.  
  78.                        Version 1.8
  79.                        ===========
  80. Version 1.8 added the ability to copy the blocked text.  The blocked text
  81. can be pasted at the current cursor location using the F4 key. 
  82.  
  83. Version 1.8 also added the feature of saving a block of text to a file.  If
  84. the file exists, you will be asked whether to overwrite it or append to it.
  85.  
  86.                        Version 1.81
  87.                        ============
  88. Version 1.81 enabled the Block Print function.  Choose the "Save to File"
  89. option on the alt-key menu, then enter LPT1 (or LPT2 etc.) as the
  90. filename.

  92.                        Version 1.9
  93.                        ===========
  94. Version 1.9 shows the current cursor coordinates on line 24 of the screen.
  95.  
  96.                        Version 2.0
  97.                        ===========
  98. Version 2.0 introduced the Block Export feature.  This enables you
  99. to pop up NoteWare over your word processor, edit and block text,
  100. then export it directly into the word processing document.  
  101.  
  102. Version 2.0 changed the "File Load" function to "View Dir/File".  The file
  103. can be viewed, searched, and scrolled using the PgUp, PgDn, up-arrow 
  104. and down-arrow keys.  You can then capture the screenful of text into
  105. a note by pressing C (Capture).  You can export a block of text from 
  106. the file directly to the current program by pressing E.  Or press 
  107. Esc to return to your note.
  108.  
  109. After you have viewed a file, you can resume viewing it by pressing
  110. Ctrl-R.  
  111.  
  112. Perhaps you don't know the exact filename when you have pressed Ctrl-V.
  113. You may type the DOS wildcards (* and ?) as part of the filename.  
  114. For instance, type C:\*.* to see all the files and directories 
  115. in your root directory on drive C.  NoteWare will display dilenames 
  116. in a five-column format.  Move the highlight bar to the desired 
  117. file or directory, then press <Enter>.
  118.  
  119. The F8 Capture key now asks "F to save file, I imports text into current
  120. note, <Enter> to create a note, or Esc".  If you press F, NoteWare will
  121. ask you to type the name of the file that will receive the screen image.
  122. If you press I, you can block off the text that you want to import 
  123. into the current note.  Press <Enter> to capture the entire screen 
  124. into a new note.  Note that all 25 lines will be captured if you choose
  125. F (filename); a maximum of 23 lines can be captured with the other two
  126. options.
  127.  
  128. The Note number is no longer displayed.  Use the F6 Index function or
  129. the PgUp and PgDn keys to select notes.  You rearrange the order of your 
  130. notes by pressing Ctrl-M (Move Note) and then using the PgUp/PgDn keys
  131. to select the new location for the note.
  132.  
  133. All Ctrl-key and Alt-key combinations have been changed to use
  134. letters rather than function keys.  The letters are easier to remember
  135. and also easier to press.
  136.  
  137.                        Version 2.1
  138.                        ===========
  139. Version 2.1 introduced the option to insert the current date and time
  140. at the cursor location.  Press Ctrl-D to insert the date.  Press Ctrl-T 
  141. to insert the time.  The format of the time is either 24 hour or AM/PM.  
  142. To change the format, type OPTIONS at the C: prompt before loading NoteWare.
  143.  
  144. This version introduced a new format for the Help at the bottom of the 
  145. screen.  The choices are highlighted in red on color screens and
  146. reverse video on monochrome.
  147.  
  148. Version 2.1 introduced the Directory function.  Press F10 to see
  149. a list of files in the current directory.  Use the cursor arrows to
  150. move the highlight bar to the desired file.  The file's date, time,
  151. and size are displayed in the lower left of the screen.  Press E to
  152. export the name of the highlighted file (including the drive letter
  153. and directory).  Press <Enter> to view the file -- the Help line will
  154. display options to search, capture, and freeze the file.
  155.  
  156. This version also enhanced the PRINTNW program.  Although the default
  157. is still LPT1, you can change this to any filename, including a disk
  158. file.  If you choose a filename that does not start with the letters LPT,
  159. the other settings (lines-per-page, date & time, etc.) will be ignored.
  160.  
  161. The settings for filename, lines-per-page, date & time, and 
  162. 1-page-per-note can now be saved to disk by pressing F9.
  163.  
  164.                        Version 2.2
  165.                        ===========
  166. Version 2.2 introduced the Column Block function.  The Column Block
  167. function allows you to block a rectangular area of the screen.  When 
  168. you begin a Block operation, NoteWare will ask if you wish to use
  169. Column Block mode.  This applies to Block (F9), import to current
  170. note (F8), and exporting while viewing a file (Ctrl-V).
  171.  
  172. Version 2.2 also added the Clean function, which erases non-printable
  173. characters from the current note.  Press Ctrl-C to clean up all ASCII 
  174. characters less than 32 or greater than 127 from the current note.  
  175. This is useful when you have captured a screen containing many
  176. "garbage" or line-drawing characters.
  177.  
  178.                        Version 3.0
  179.                        ===========
  180. Version 3.0 introduces the Form feature.  Press Ctrl-F to create a new
  181. note and load the file NOTEWARE.FRM into it.  The sample version of
  182. NOTEWARE.FRM is a phone message pad.  When filling out a form, press 
  183. TAB to move the cursor to the beginning of the next field.  Ctrl-F
  184. changes NoteWare to Typeover mode.
  185.  
  186. We've included an ASCII chart, a monthly calendar, a phone message 
  187. form, a list of toll-free numbers, and a WordPerfect template as 
  188. sample notes in version 3.0.  Additional monthly calendars are 
  189. provided as ASCII files.  You can load them by pressing F10 (Dir), 
  190. highlighting the desired month, and pressing C (Capture).  Typeover 
  191. mode is automatically enabled as soon as you begin making an 
  192. entry in the calendar.
  193.  
  194. Version 3.0 introduces the Original function.  Press Ctrl O to read the
  195. original version of the current note from disk.  Similar to an "Undo" 
  196. function, this is useful if you've massacred the current note and
  197. want to bring it back to its unedited state.
  198.  
  199. This version also introduces the Insert function.  Press Ctrl I to
  200. insert a blank note after the current one.  Use this option when you
  201. want to add a new note at a specific location.  
  202.  
  203. Version 3.0 introduces the non-TSR version of NoteWare.  This version
  204. is helpful if you have a TSR conflict with NoteWare.  Type NOTEWARE.EXE
  205. at the DOS prompt to use NoteWare as an application program without the
  206. pop-up capability.  
  207.  
  208. NOTEWARE.EXE is also the version of NoteWare accessed by Microsoft Windows.
  209. An icon and a PIF file is included for use in Windows.
  210.  
  211. The default hotkey has been changed to Ctrl-spacebar.  The previous hotkey,
  212. Alt-spacebar, conflicted with Windows.  Use the HOTKEY program to change
  213. it back to Alt-spacebar if you desire. 
  214.  
  215. This version introduces SETUP, a program to install NoteWare in its
  216. own Program Manager group in Windows.
  217.  
  218. NoteWare now prevents text from falling off the bottom of a note.  
  219. You will hear a short beep instead, and no text is inserted
  220. or moved.  You will also hear the beep if you attempt to type in the
  221. extreme lower right corner of the screen.  If this happens, you may 
  222. wish to press Ctrl I to insert a new note after the current one.
  223.  
  224. Version 3.0 incorporates programming changes that allow more than
  225. one copy of NoteWare to be in memory at the same time.  To do this, copy
  226. NOTEWARE.DTA, NOTEWARE.COM, NOTEWARE.EXE and HOTKEY.COM into a second 
  227. directory, change the hotkey, and load NoteWare.  This is useful if you 
  228. want to separate certain notes (phone messages, for instance) from the others.
  229.  
  230. The first entry in the Index is now the NoteWare Welcome Screen.
  231.  
  232.                        Version 3.0A
  233.                        ============
  234. Version 3.0A eliminated the "Share Violation" error message which 
  235. occurred when NoteWare was accessed from both DOS and Windows after 
  236. SHARE.EXE has been loaded.  
  237.  
  238. This version also allows importing characters whose ASCII value is 
  239. greater than 127.

  242.                        Version 3.0B
  243.                        ============
  244. Version 3.0B fixes the following problem in the Index (F6) option:
  245. When the last "page" of the Index had only one note, the <Down Arrow> 
  246. and <PgDn> keys would not move to that page.
  247.

  251. The included monthly calendars range from January to August, 1994.
